5 Things I Can’t Live Without

1. coffee

It is no secret that I am addicted to coffee. I will not start my day properly until the kettle has been boiled and I have my life essence in my hands.  My days are generally quite busy and coffee just keeps me going which means that I can get everything done. I do drink too much and the likelihood is that will never change.

2. My animals

Nothing feels as good as walking in through the front door to be greeted by cuddles of your pets. My dog Hugo doesn’t even allow you to sit down before he is jumping on you and giving you kisses, which just fills me with unexplainable amounts of happiness. My cat, Snowy,  is a lot calmer when greeting people but she is an incredibly affectionate little girl who loves to be cuddled and will often meow for me to pick her up. We recently got a new dog named Honey who I have met briefly as I had to come back to uni but she was such a sweetie and I can’t wait to get to spend more time with her.

3. My Bullet Journal

I am personally obsessed with organization and so my bullet journal is my baby as it allows me to get my life in order. I don’t go all crazy arty with it because drawing is just not my strong point but it is certainly incredibly useful which is what I wanted it for. It has helped me to get into better habits and keep a record of the tasks I have to do.

4. My Hardrive

As a writer, having somewhere to save all your work is essential. Every single one of my posts and ideas are on there, which means that I would be totally lost without it. I never delete or throw anything away so I need somewhere to store it, just in case I go back to it at a later date.

5. TV Shows

I am that person who needs something playing in the background but can’t quite handle music all the time. I like to hear talking. That is exactly why I always have a TV Show playing in the background and end up binge watching way more than I ever intended to do. My show count is currently 64 … yes, I have a problem. One Tree Hill will always be my favourite show and the fact that Sophia Bush is joining the final season of Jane The Virgin made me so happy.

I hope you guys have enjoyed this post. I just wanted to apologise for my lack of posting over the past few weeks. I have been incredibly busy and not in the best mindset but things are on the up now and posting will resume as normal.

Have a good evening xx

The perks of being a wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. I feel in love with this book from the first chapter and have read it so many times now. I’ve never been able to pin point why but I always gravitate towards it.

I am very very boring and love vanilla. My local ice cream shop from back home,Crecies, has the best vanilla ice cream and nothing will ever beat it.

My step mother! That women is the most hard working, non stop person I know and I’m so grateful for her. I’d love to change places with her just for one day to give her a break.

1. Hugo – Why are you so bonkers?

Adulting

It takes some getting used to,
This adulting thing.
Or so I hear.

From pocket money,
To hard earned cash.
Don’t worry, you’re saving some for later.
From grotesque canteen … whatever the hell that was,
To your homemade ‘gourmet’ chicken.
two pounds for six in Iceland, half hour in the oven.
From drinking and dancing until dawn,
To ‘goodnight love’.
It’s already 10pm, best be getting to bed.
From sneaking through the back door,
To staring at the clock.
‘I told you to be back by 8!’

From being nagged to do the dishes,
To not having a bloody choice.
Well the dish fairy isn’t going to do them. Is she?
From the excitement of the break bell,
To lunch on the go.
The bench in the nursing home yard.
It takes some getting used to,
This adulting thing.
But don’t worry,
You’ll get there eventually.

My Top 5 Foundations For Pale People

Hey M’lovelies,

I have been on the hunt for a foundation pale enough for me for years and I recently found it. I tried out so many different foundations both high-end and high-street which means that I’ve been able to compile a list of the palest ones around. They may not have been my perfect match but they were still incredibly pale and I know they’ll work out for the majority of pale folk out there.

L’Oréal Paris True Match – 0.5N Porcelain

I’m starting off with my dream foundation because it is the one that inspired this post. This has always been my favourite foundation but it just ended up being way too dark for me in the past. However, they have just brought out a new shade, 0.5N porcelain, and it ended up being my perfect shade. They also do a 0.5R  Rose Porcelain which is the same shade but in a pink undertone. I adore this foundation because it’s very long wearing, amazing coverage and looks like a second skin.

Mac Pro-Longwear Nourishing – NW13

This foundation would have been the perfect shade for me had it been in a more neutral undertone as it carried more on the pink side. The coverage was fantastic and it made the perfect foundation for nights out but I found the formula to be slightly too thick for everyday usage. It does have an incredibly flawless finish and leaves your skin feeling hydrated which I loved about it.

Maybelline Fit Me Matte and Poreless – 95

Just like the previous foundation, it carried a little bit too pink for my liking but if you love a gorgeous soft matte finish then this is for you. The coverage can be built up to full without being cakey but I don’t recommend this for dry skin as it will cling to dry patches and age you 10 years.

Rimmel Match Perfection – 001 Fair Porcelain

This foundation was the perfect tone for me and I have never had my foundation look so natural (apart from L’Oréal of course). I have nothing bad to say about this foundation apart from the fact that it was just too dark for me but I got away with it by blending down my neck.

Mac Studiofix Fluid – NC5

I personally did not get along with the formula of this foundation but they recently brought out the new extended shade range and I cannot fault the variety that they have.  NC5 is probably the second lightest one that I have mentioned and does have a neutral undertone but the formula was too thick for my personal taste. It could be perfect for you if you enjoy a higher and thicker coverage.

I’m sorry I don’t have photos of all the foundations to show you but I sadly don’t own them all anymore. Remember that this is based purely on shade range and not the formula as I am aware there are more than just my skin type out there.

I will be doing a collection of “Top 5 for Pale People’ posts including concealers, blushers, bronzers and contour but it may take me a while to complete the series as I need to continue my very expensive search for pale products.

I hope you guys have enjoyed this post and if you know of any super pale products that could work for me and fellow readers then let me know below.

My January Favourites

Hey M’lovelies,

I can’t believe we are almost out of January already but we are, which means that it is that time of the month where I share what I have been loving this month with you guys.

As always I am going to try and keep my list as varied as I can because my blog does cover a wide variety of topics. in 2019 I am aiming to try out a lot more new things which will hopefully make these posts longer and give me more to write about.

 My Cool Ass Mug

Since coming back to London from Wales, the only mug that I have used is the one I shared on Instagram with you guys. Obviously, I have washed it, but I can’t seem to put it down. It is the perfect size and has a gorgeous pattern on it which has made me fall in love with it.

Sally Hansen Nail Varnish

I’ve been wanting to build up my Nail Varnish collection as I threw out all my old ones, which is why I decided to take a look at Sally Hansen. I bought two shades which are called ‘237 World Is My Oyster’ and ‘494 Love Me Lilac’. They’re incredibly long-wearing, absolutely stunning shades and didn’t break the bank.

The Body Shop British Rose Instant Glow Body Butter

If you guys have read my review on this, then you will know how much I loved it. It leaves the skin feeling soft and hydrated, without the greasy feel. It completely cured my dry skin within a matter of weeks. I’m not going into much detail as I already have a full review up which you can go and check out if you please.

dsc01456

Wisdom Active Whitening Flouride Toothpaste

Honestly guys, this toothpaste is a miracle worker! Not too harsh and minty with zero burning sensation that other minty toothpastes on the market have. It also has as an instant whitening effect and as a coffee drinker, this is a godsend. Don’t be thrown off by the fact that it is black, this is due to it being a charcoal based formula which helps to remove any stains.

RCMA No Colour Powder

As a dry skin sufferer, it is very difficult to find a powder that does not cling to your dry patches or give the effect that you look a decade older than you actually are. This powder sets my under-eye concealer smoothly and leaves it looking silky soft. The best part about it is that it leaves zero colour residue, which means no white marks will be left on your face and no flashback.

I hope you guys have enjoyed this post! I’m sorry there weren’t that many items this month as I am just a girl of habit and don’t really change up what I use. If you guys have enjoyed and have any recommendations chuck them my way!

Bye guys.

The Ordinary review.

Hey M’lovelies,

For months now I have been hearing my fellow people in the dry skin community rave about how good The Ordinary is and when they come out with their foundation most of the beauty community was all over it.

Since moving to London my skin has been worse than even and started to feel like the Sahara (okay … slight exaggeration) which is why I decided to take the plunge and jump onto Beauty Bay.

I bought 2 items, their ‘High-Spreadability Fluid Primer’ and their ‘100% Plant-derived Hemi-Squalane’.

High-Spreadability Fluid Primer

The box says that it is a ‘Spreadability-Enhancing Lightweight Surface Smoother and primer’ and it claims that the product is going to help with makeup adherence, visible surface texture and hydration.

You get 30ml of product which is standard and it comes in a frosted glass bottle with a pipet for the application. I like the pipet because you do get a lot of control over the amount of product you disperse and there is no waste after because you can always place it back in the bottle.

I’m going to come straight out with this and say that I adored it. It made my skin feel incredibly hydrated and my make up blended like a dream on top of it without clinging to any of my dry patches. It was incredibly lightweight and I didn’t feel sticky after applying it but I did feel like it slightly enhanced the appearance of the pores on my nose initially. That went away when I started to pat the product into my skin rather than rubbing.

My skin stayed looking hydrated and non-cakey all day which is something that never happens as my dryness usually shows by the end of the day.

100% Plant-Derived Hemi-Squalane

Again, you get 30ml of product and it comes with a pipet which I still love but be careful how hard you squeeze or a lot comes out. Be gentle and you will have so much control.

so, on Beauty Bay, it says “A hydrating face and hair oil.  Say hello to supple skin. As a non-comedogenic, natural emollient, 100% Plant-Derived Hemi-Squalene is ideal for soothing a dry or lacklustre complexion. This ultra-nourishing and lightweight oil absorb quickly into the skin, delivering an intense moisture boost and increasing elasticity for a smooth, plump finish. Due to its spreadability and dry-after feel, the formula is also perfect for achieving sleek, frizz-free tresses.”

I applied this before bed and the first thing I noticed was that it sunk into my skin instantly without leaving behind the greasy feeling that you’d expect an oil too. I honestly felt like I had added water into my skin and given my face a massive drink. when I woke up in the morning my skin felt plump, hydrated and incredibly smoother as it had taken away all my bumps had all over my jaw.

dsc01468.jpg

Both of these products are Vegan and cruelty-free which is fantastic and on top of that, they are fragrance-free which I couldn’t be happier as fragrance irritates the hell out of my skin

To conclude, I adore both of these products and have no doubts that I will be continuing to purchase from this brand.

Lets Talk About Mental Health.

Hey M’lovelies,

Today I am going to be talking to you about the subject of mental health and this may be triggering for some people so I do recommend not reading this post if you feel it could potentially cause you any upset.

I have decided to talk about this topic because I have seen nothing but people getting attacked for their mental health in the news and on my facebook which I think is just disgusting. You never know what could tip a person over the edge and so to attack them while you know they are low is despicable and I personally couldn’t think of anything crueller.

Mental health is not something that should be taken lightly as 1 in 4 people will statistically suffer from some form of mental illness or mental health issue each year. People need to be made more aware of how they could help those who may need it because I know I’d feel awful if I couldn’t help a loved one who needed me.

In the Uk and Ireland, more than 6,000 people will take their own life each which just goes to show that it can happen to anybody. If more people were made aware of mental illness and there was more access to support then I’m sure that number would decline drastically.

If your friend is struggling and they come to you then the first thing you need to do is let them know that it is going to be okay and that you are proud of them, because it would have taken a world of strength for them to pluck up the courage to talk to you about it. They’ve done the hard part and just need a hand getting through the rest.

Naturally, you are going to ask them why they’re feeling the way they do but if they respond with ‘I don’t know’ then they’re not doing it to be awkward or because they don’t want to tell you … sometimes they really don’t know. Not knowing what is wrong often causes things like depression to get worse because they don’t want to feel the way that they do, but they can’t figure out what is causing it to begin with to help fix it.

Don’t get annoyed at them for not wanting to go out all the time because they are not always going to feel up to it. Sometimes they are going to want to shut themselves away from everyone because they may feel like a burden and like they’ll bring everybody down, but they’re going to need you there when they do feel up to going out.

Encourage them to seek medical help if things don’t improve but don’t push it upon them because that will just make them not want to get help at all. They will get to the point where they are ready to seek the help themselves but they are going to need you to be patient and they’re going to need you to be there for them when do.

You may find out that they are self-harming and if you are both teenagers then the best thing you can do is inform a school or parent before they become a potential danger to themselves. If you are both adults then the only thing you can do is try your best to get them to stop but if it becomes serious then you may need to seek medical intervention for them.

Finally, there are hundreds of diffrent mental illness’ such as Bipolar, OCD etc and it would be a very good idea to research whatever one your friend has because that way you’ll know what expected and will have a better idea on how to support them through it.

To everyone out there suffering, what you are going through is not your fault and you’re going to come out on top even if you don’t feel like it now. You are brave and you should be so proud of yourself for being so strong.

If you are feeling suicidal then please contact The Samaritans on 116 123. It is completely free, open 24hrs and they are there to help.
