Planning my novel.

Hey m’lovelies,

So today I wanted to talk to you a little about my novel. I’ve briefly mentioned before that I recently started writing my novel again and I’m not going to tell you too much about it because I do plan on eventually sharing it with you guys but I don’t want to keep it totally private either. I thought rather than going into detail about the plot and characters (bar names), I would go through my planning instead because that would allow you guys to see my writing process.

I started by doing a character profile for all four of my main characters which are Angela, David, Katie and Dale because I wanted to make sure that I knew the characters like the back of my hand. I find that when I know my characters well that it is very easy for me to get into the mindset of that character, which means I can make them very realistic. I write down their age, surname, partner, parents and then write a little paragraph about their backstory which would also include their traits.

Once I had completed the character profiles I decided to do a plot summary page which contained all the major details and I then did a very brief description of each chapter which meant that I had a guideline for each one. It’s good to make sure that you know where you’re going with your story because it is easy to become stuck in the rut of writers’ block but having a plan means you have a rough idea even when your brain is being a dick.

I will give you guys a very brief description of the novel but I’m not going into detail. It is about a young boy called David who is diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and is horrifically bullied as a result. I have decided to tell the story from his girlfriends’ point of view as I wanted to show it from a different perspective than you would usually expect.

When I had finished the brief description of each chapter I decided to do a full-on chapter plan which meant that I listed everything I wanted to include in that chapter to make sure I didn’t miss out any important details when writing it. After that was completed, I decided to do a mood board of one of the central locations in my novel which is Angela’s bedroom and I did this because I write better descriptions when I have a visual image to work from. It was quick and easy to do but it was also a lot of fun and incredibly helpful.

I hope you guys have enjoyed this post and I’m sorry I couldn’t give much away but I promise you that I will soon. Are you guys working on any cool projects? let me know in the comments below.

My Make-up Must Haves.

Hey m’lovelies,

I was going through my make-up the other day and I decided to share my must-haves with you guys because I’m always getting asked about what I am wearing in certain photos or just in everyday life.

Some of you may hate these products and some of you may love them but remember that everybody’s skin is different and they are not going to perform the same on everybody.

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation

I adore this foundation for many many reasons but the main one is that is the most natural foundation that I have ever worn. It is low medium coverage but it can be built to a high medium without looking cakey in the slightest which is great because some foundations can be incredibly difficult to build up. I use this as an everyday foundation and I wear the shade ‘001 Fair Porcelain’ which is one of the lightest foundations I have ever found from an affordable brand and in general, but it is still ever so slightly too dark for me as I am insanely fair. The shade range for this foundation is pretty decent but they need to bring out darker shades as they simply do not go dark enough. It leaves your skin looking naturally radiant and blends beautifully with other products.

Rimmel ‘Oh My Gloss!’ – 130 Purrr … Glossy Cat

I wear this lip gloss over every single nude lipstick that I own and even by itself. Putting this over your nude lipstick helps to make it look more natural and gives your lips a gorgeous plump look. It doesn’t leave your lips sticky and even though there are shimmers in the lip gloss, your lips will not look glittery unless you look incredibly close to them. This is a gift from God to those of us who have dry lips because it takes away the dry, cracked look and it means you can transform a dry matte lipstick into a stunning shimmery one, which means you get the shade you want but without the dryness.

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer – 05

This concealer is going to give you medium coverage, hydrate the under eyes and leave you looking like you have had the best sleep on the planet. I struggled for so long to find a concealer that wouldn’t look cakey or crack throughout the day and this is the only one that I can leave on all day and not have to worry about that happening.

Wet n Wild Megaglo Highlighting powder – Blossom Glow

This is a very recent discovery of mine as the brand has only just come to the UK. I love this highlighter because it can give you the most gorgeous, natural highlight in the world but it can also blind you If you wanted it too because it can be built it effortlessly. Blossom Glow is beautiful on paler skin tones and while you may be scared of the pink tones in it showing up on the skin … it doesn’t. On the skin, it is a stunning champagne colour that can give you the lit from within look.

Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray

I used to think that setting sprays were a load of bollocks and only ever bought them to help and powders I was wearing to set into my skin and look less powdery but this … this is magic. I have tried my make-up without this many times in my life but it always end up looking awful by the end of the day (I generally have my make-up on 8-12 hours a day) but when I apply this, it does not budge. My make-up stays looking fresh all day and I never have to touch up anything bar my lipstick which I think is just amazing.

I hope you guys have enjoyed the post. Do my products work for you? Do you have any products you can’t live without? Let me know in the comments below.

Bye guys.

My Morning Routine

Hey m’lovelies,

I’ve finally got myself into a good morning routine and I thought I may as well share it with you guys!

Now, this isn’t going to be one of those routines you see on youtube where they get up super early and drink the healthiest smoothie you can think of before going for their morning run … nope. This is going to be a lots of coffee, turning my alarm off 15 times and sitting on my bed contemplating life kind of routine.

I start my morning by turning off my 7am alarm and rolling out of bed 45 minutes later.  Now, it may take me a little while to get out of the bed but I do still get out of bed at a decent time which puts me in a better mood as I feel like I’m getting the most out of my day. I make my bed straight away to make sure that I do not get back into because I know that once I’ve put the effort into making it, I don’t want to get back in.

Once that is sorted, I go straight into the kitchen and make myself my first (of many) coffee of the day before heading straight back into my room. I generally grab whatever book I am reading at the time and sit down with my coffee for half an hour and just spend the time reading, putting myself in a good mood for the day.

When I’ve finished my coffee and reading I head into my bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face, using my Superdrug face wash (fancy … right?) which I love because it really hydrates my skin and the mint scent really wakes me up.

After this, I head back into my room and pull out my skincare bag. I love to use ‘Simple’ products for my skincare so I apply their moisturizer and eye cream and wait half an hour for the products to skin in before I apply my make-up. I’m not going to go into detail about my make-up routine because that is a separate post to come.

While I wait, I head to my wardrobe to pick out the days outfit which is usually a jumper and a pair of jeans, because you can never go wrong with casual, and then I pack my bag ready for when I eventually head out.

In an attempt to lead a healthier lifestyle, I now include eating breakfast in my morning routine but it is the last thing I do as my stomach cannot handle food first thing but I’m not going to lie and say this is a daily thing because it isn’t. I eat it when I feel like I can. If I have breakfast, I generally have ‘Special K Red Berries’ because it is healthy, delicious and not too heavy on the stomach.

Well, that is everything for my morning routine. I’m sorry it isn’t the most exciting in the world but I figured it would give you guys a little bit more of an insight into my daily life. I hope you guys have an enjoyed and please comment below if you have a little morning routine of your own or have any ideas on how I could improve mine.

Blogger of the week

Blogger of the week.

Hey m’lovelies,

Today is the day that I finally start my blogger of the week series which means that each week, I will be telling you guys about a fellow blogger that I think you should check out for yourselves. I am doing this because blogging is not easy and I want to play a part in getting peoples work noticed, even if it is a very small part.

kicking it off is ‘Lifelikeagalaxygirl.com‘ run by the insanely talented Alanna who has been blogging on that site since 2017 but had a previous blog that ran for 5 years (the dedication on this girl is unreal guys!).

Alanna very rarely has a day off from her blog and is very interactive with her followers on both her Instagram, Twitter and in the comment section of her blog. You’d think that with her posting almost every day that some posts may not be as intriguing as other, but that is certainly not the case here because her content always has me hooked and her blogmas posts were some the best I read.

Her dedication has meant that she has gained 1,387 followers and an outstanding 14,431 hits on her blog in just over a year and she deserves every bit of her success. Her blog covers a wide range of topics including lifestyle, beauty and even food which means that she has something that everybody can enjoy.

The next section does contain pieces of Alanna’s life that are very personal and sensitive to her. I want to assure you that I asked her permission to include it in this post and her willingness to share it with us goes to show just how brave and amazing she truly is.

I asked Alanna why she started blogging and what she thought of how far she had come in the last year and she replied …

“Hi lovely, I started this blog back in December 2017 but I had previously had a blog that was running for 5 years. I started blogging because I needed an escape from my sexual assault flashback’s, I didn’t want to keep on self harming so I decided to create a new blog. In just 1 year I’ve reached over 14k views and I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing brands. For me it’s not about that though, it’s the fact that I’m still writing and still living.”

She is a true inspiration to me and all bloggers alike so please go and show her some love. I have linked all her social media accounts below so go and follow.

Creating realistic characters.

Hey m’lovelies,

Today’s post is going to be for all you writers out there that want to be able to create realistic characters in your pieces.

Creating characters isn’t easy to begin with and it certainly isn’t easy making them believable to an audience by hopefully this post will give you some pointers.

My first pointer for you guys is to give your characters both good and bad traits or maybe even weird traits. Nobody is all good or all bad in this world and your characters shouldn’t be either, even if they are the protagonist. If your character is one dimensional then they will appear boring to your audience which is something you really don’t want.

This leads me on to my next point which is to base your character loosely of people you know. That doesn’t mean make them exactly the same as the person but just take some of their traits and give them to your character. This will make them seem more realistic as a lot of your readers will identify with them.

I personally find that creating character profiles before you start writing your piece allows you to really get to know your character before you put them on paper. Write down their age, date of birth, physical appearance, relationships with any other characters and any little details about them that you think could be relevant. That will make your characters consistent as you will know them like the back of your hand.

Finally, have fun with them! These are your characters and you can do whatever you like with them. People love those quirky and funny characters.

I hope you guys have enjoyed this blog post and found it helpful! Comment some of your quirky characters below! I’d love to hear all about them.

My quick and easy Make-up tips.

Hey m’lovelies,

I’m going start off by saying that anything listed below is just what I like to do with my make-up and skin. They are not going to work for everybody as everybody has a different skin type and their own personal preference but should they work for you, I truly believe they will be a game changer (if you don’t already do them.)

I’m going jump right in and I hope you guys will find them helpful.

1. Use eyeshadow on your lash line.

I know winged eye-liner is popular these days but this is for those of us that don’t wear it or for those more natural make-up days. Take an angled brush and coat it with brown eyeshadow, then run it along your upper lash line as close to the lashes as you can get. This is going to make your eyes appear bigger and your lashes look thicker which is something I personally love the look of and need. I do this every day because it is quick, easy to do and has an amazing effect. I’ve added a photo to the bottom of the post so that you can see what I mean

2. Use a sponge to sheer your foundation.

I personally don’t like my foundation to be very heavy coverage but I buy heavy coverage foundations anyway for when I go on nights out. However, I do not want to be wasting money and 2 different foundations which is why I sheer the higher coverage one out instead. I start by placing very small ( and I mean very small) dots of the foundation around my face and then using a sponge to blend those dots out. Use no more than a pump and a half for your entire face  The sponge will blend it smoothly but also soak up any extra foundation leaving you with light coverage but beautiful looking skin.

3. Look up!

It can be very difficult to find the crease when it comes to eye shadow sometimes but if you tilt your head and look up, you should see the shadow perfectly. This is going to make it so you know exactly where to put the shadow and make it quicker to do as you won’t be spending loads of time trying to find the right angle. Obviously, everybody has different eye shapes and this may not work for everybody but it should for the majority of you.

4. Stop skipping your skin care.

I used to find myself wondering why my make-up wasn’t sitting properly on my skin when it usually did but I quickly realised it only happened on days when I skipped my skincare. The whole point of skincare is to get your skin to its most beautiful self which then makes it the perfect base for make-up. If you have dry skin, like I do, and you forget to put your moisturiser on then your foundation is going to let you know about it.

5. Stipple your brush on spots.

Circular motions with your brush when it comes to covering spots is just going to blend it away. You want to take a good coverage concealer and a dense brush then stipple the product on the area of concern because that is going to blend the product but keep the coverage in the area you want it.

6. Go a brow shade lighter.

This is only if you want incredibly natural looking eyebrows. Going the same shade as your hair will still give you amazing looking eyebrows that look natural but it can sometimes look a bit harsh on the face. Going a shadow lighter will look more natural and flatter you more because your eyebrow hairs are normally lighter than the hair on your head anyway.

I hope you guys have found this post helpful because I know that I would’ve when I first started wearing make-up.

Do you guys have any tips of your own? Please let me know in the comments below and I’ll be sure to check them out.

My new year goals and how I plan to keep them.

Hey M’lovelies,

The new year is the perfect time to set goals so that you can improve your happiness and make your life easier in the future, but the first mistake people make is setting goals that they know that they are not going to keep. Resolutions should be something you can have complete control over no matter what situation you are in. It is no good going ‘in 2019 … I am going get my dream job’ or ‘in 2019 … I’m going to find my dream guy/girl’ because you can try your hardest to do both of those things (applying for jobs, going on dates …) but they come down fate at the end of the day. However, that’s not to say those can’t happen as a result of all your hard.

I would like to share my new year goals with you and how I plan to keep them. I really believe that everybody can keep their goals as long as they are realistic and can be easily be integrated into your everyday life so it won’t seem like such a huge change.

My first goal of 2019 is to drink more water because I know that is one of the biggest faults I have when it comes to maintaining my health. I generally only drink coffee throughout the day and while it is the best thing on the planet, it is incredibly dehydrating which is why I need to add water to make sure I stay hydrated. My skin, hair and general health are being affected by my dehydration, and so I have made it my goal to start drinking at least 1 litre of water per day (building up the amount I drink slowly). I plan to do this by having a glass in the morning and with every meal throughout the day but I will also keep a bottle with me at all times. I will add squash into my bottle if I am finding it difficult drink (due to blandness) and even though it won’t be pure water, it will still be hydrating.

My second goal of 2019 is to start eating breakfast which has so many benefits but I stupidly don’t do. It will improve my concentration and give me more energy throughout the day which will make my daily tasks feel like less of a chore, but this is something I will have to build up to doing on a daily basis. I will start by eating a small bowl of cereal on the weekends as I generally wake up a bit later then and my stomach can handle food better later but when I’ve gotten used that, I shall increase how often I eat until it’s a daily occurrence.

Another goal I have is to do a little workout each day to help myself get into a better physical and mental state. I’ll start by doing 15 sit-ups, 10 squats and 10 crunches every morning until I feel ready to increase the amount do and include some other exercises as well. Exercise has been proven to release dopamine which can help keep people in a good mental state which is going mean that I lead a happier and healthy life.

My final goal for the year is to read more because I haven’t been doing as much should’ve recently and I want to have loads of new books to review for you guys. I will start by ensuring that I read 3 chapters before each night because not only does it mean I can get through a book at a reasonable pace but it will also help fall asleep.

My advice for those of you who have set goals is to take it slow and build up to it rather than jumping from 0 to 100 at once because it will seem way harder than it needs to be if you do it that way.

I hope you have and enjoyed this post and I would love to hear your new years goals in the comment section below.
