Make up that looks natural is incredibly rare as there is always something off or wrong about it, something that screams “I’M WEARING MAKE UP”. There is, of course, the “no make up make up look” which you see on youtube but lets be honest … they still look caked in the stuff and the only thing they have done differently is no false lashes or winged eyeliner, they still even do eyeshadow for pities sake. There is nothing wrong with full glam if that’s what you’re in to but this is for those people who still want a full face of make up but for it look actually natural. Every product mentioned in this post will be an affordable option with the exception of foundation (because my pale ass can’t find any cheaper ones that match) but I do provide an affordable alternative. I will link all the products and the link will take you to where you can find them cheapest.
The first step is to apply primer to your face as a base for your foundation, you should cater your primer to your skin type which basically means if you’ve got oily skin, go for a primer that will make your face matte (not a drying one though) or if you’ve got very visible pores go for a pore filling one. As I have dry skin, I use the “L’Oreal Infallible Foundation Primer – Luminising 05” which I apply all over my face but using only the smallest amount, about half a pump to the entire face. I personally use my hands for this step as it helps it melt into the skin and any extra product will stay on your hands to be washed away. I would 100% avoid this product as an all over primer if you have oily skin.
Then, I apply my foundation using my ‘Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge’ and the foundation I use is the ‘Urban Decay Naked Skin‘ in the shade 0.5. I personally find that this foundation has a natural, radiant finish that allows your skin to still peak through when applied sparingly but it still covers any ‘imperfection’ and can be built up if needed without looking caked on. A cheaper foundation that I found does the same is the ‘Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation’ and so does ‘Rimmel lasting Finish 25 Hour Breathable Foundation‘. I use only a pump of foundation and blend it out with the sponge, starting from my cheeks to my jaw and my chin before blending on the nose and centre of the forehead outwards.
I move on to conceal my under-eyes using the ‘Maybelline Age-Rewind Concealer‘ in the shade 00 Ivory and I only place it on the under-eye area where the darkness lies,
none of that huge triangle under the eye shit. If you have any blemishes you wish to conceal further now is the time to do so, I recommend the “Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer’ because it has insane coverage and it’s only £4.19. After that, I take the ‘Revolution Bake & Finish Power’ which I use all over my face (even under the eye) but only a light dusting using my ‘EcoTools Full Power Brush’.
After that, I take my ‘E.L.F Sculpting Palette‘ in St Lucia and I both the bronzing powder and the blush. I use my ‘EcoTool Define Brush’ to brush the bronzing powder lightly across my cheeks bones, forehead and even lighter dusting on my jawline. I apply the brush sparingly across the apple of my cheeks using my ‘EcoTool Precision Blush Brush’ which just adds a nice flush of colour and warmth to my corse like complexion.
Now, I can’t exactly tell you how I do my brows as everyone has a different routine but I can say that you should start from the tail and work towards the front, using a lighter hand as you do so. I like to use a pencil as it makes the brow look more natural and the one I use is the ‘NYX Micro-brow Pencil‘ in the shade espresso.
Next, it’s time to apply my mascara and the one I use is the ‘Maybelline Lash Sensational‘ in black but you can make it even more natural by using a brown mascara. After that, I dust the ‘MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter‘ in the shade ‘Iridescent Gold’ across the high points of my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose.
Finally, I apply my lipstick of choice which is the ‘Maybelline Coloursensational Lipstick‘ in the shade 740 Coffee Craze but you can use whatever nude lipstick that you love as the look welcomes any colour.
Don’t forget to apply setting spray as it really helps the powder melt into your skin and that’s what is really going to make this look natural … really natural. I recommend the Rimmel #instafix&go 2 In 1 Primer and Setting Spray‘ because it is a decent price and gets the job done.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, I’ve posted the look over on my instagram page (@paigebwrites) and I hope you’ve found it helpful. If you try this look, please send it my way as I would love to see it!
